Matchmaking is a field which seems like you are doing a good deed. It has been said that the pairs are made in heaven by God but this is the task of a human to make them meet for the purpose of getting married. Marriage is not that fancy as its functions but if both the people getting into the wedlock live happily with little adjustments then this is the most beautiful thing in life.

What is Christian Matrimony:-

This refers to getting to people belonging to the Christian community getting into a wedlock as per the customs of Christianity.

Laws related to Christian Matrimony:-

In India the laws with respect to Christian Matrimony have been Governed by the Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872. This act has been enacted for the marriages of Christians in India. According to this there are several things which need to be make sure before getting any christians into a wedlock an these are as follows:-

  • Age Limit: For a legal marriage it is compulsory that marriage should happen with the valid consent of both bride and groom without any force and the age of groom at the time of wedding should be 21 years and the age of bride at the time of wedding must be 18 years.
  • It is a basic legal requirement that both the bride and groom who are getting into this wedlock should not have any husband or wife and should have their legal status as single, divorced or widow at the time of getting into this wedlock.
  • It is necessary to have two witnesses who are sound and credible to be available at the time of marriage.
  • The wedding under this religion should be performed as per the rules and regulations of the marriage of the church. 
  • This marriage ritual can be fulfilled in the church by any male priest in the church who is following all the rules, rites, customs of marriage as per the church of Scotland.
  • This marriage can also happen in the court in the presence of a marriage registrar appointed as per the rules and regulations of this act.
  • According to this act all the marriages under this should happen between morning 6Am to evening 7Pm.
  • The act also talks about whether the marriage between a christian and a non-christian under this act is legitimate.
  • It is a mandatory condition that while the solemnized wedding takes place there should be two credible witnesses present apart from the priest of the church.

Therefore, a person needs to take care of the above mentioned laws for having a legitimate wedding so that there is no issue occurring in terms of validity of marriage as per the Indian christian Marriage act 1872.
